Welcome back to “God is Not Boxable” Podcast & Blog for Business Owners.

Where business and faith collide, this podcast focuses on God's Principles and Promises regarding you and your business.

My name is Shaniece M. Wise. I am the host of this podcast and am a Business Expansion Coach and Strategist. I teach business owners how to grow their visibility, increase profitability, and improve their systems and strategies.

In our last episode, “Inviting Blessings: Mastering Prayer for Business Success” we dove into the powerful tool of prayer, exploring how integrating prayer into both the minor and major aspects of your business can create profound impacts, guided by scriptural wisdom and God’s principles.

In this episode, "Business Growth and Multiplication - Drawing Inspiration from God's Promise to Abraham,” we explore the powerful implications of the Abrahamic Covenant in the context of expanding your business. This episode focuses on how business owners can pray effectively for growth and multiplication, drawing inspiration from God's promise to Abraham to make him the father of many nations.

Understanding the Abrahamic Covenant:

The Abrahamic Covenant, found in Genesis 12:1-3, is a foundational moment where God promises Abraham land, blessing, and a multitude of descendants. This covenant is not only a promise of physical progeny but also spiritual and material abundance. This represents the promise of growth, influence, and legacy for business owners.

The Abrahamic Covenant, as detailed in Genesis 12:1-3, marks a pivotal point in biblical history where God makes significant promises to Abraham. These promises include the grant of land, an assurance of blessings, and a multitude of descendants. This covenant is foundational because it sets the stage for the development of a nation through Abraham's lineage and underscores a lasting relationship between God and Abraham's descendants.

Understanding the Components of the Covenant:

  1. Land: God promises Abraham a specific territory (the land of Canaan). For business owners, this can symbolize the establishment and expansion of physical and operational space necessary for business growth.

  2. Blessing: This is a multifaceted promise that includes personal prosperity and favor. For Abraham, it meant becoming a great nation that would enjoy God’s protection and prosperity. In a business context, this translates to the pursuit of growth opportunities that enhance the company's market presence and societal impact.

  3. Descendants: God promises Abraham a multitude of descendants, indicating that his legacy would be large and enduring. For entrepreneurs, this can be likened to the legacy they create through their businesses, which may continue to influence and provide for communities and future generations long after they are gone.

Spiritual and Material Abundance:

  • Spiritual Abundance: It implies that Abraham's descendants will enjoy a deep and enduring relationship with God. They are promised God’s guidance, protection, and favor, which are invaluable spiritual blessings that nurture their faith and moral integrity throughout generations. The ethical and moral frameworks guide the business, its culture, and its contributions to societal well-being. A business rooted in spiritual abundance might focus on integrity, fair practices, and community engagement.

  • Material Abundance: Alongside spiritual wealth, the covenant also ensures material prosperity. This includes land, resources, and the means to sustain and grow a thriving community. For Abraham, this promise was initially fulfilled through the acquisition of the land of Canaan, which provided a physical space for his descendants to prosper. Material abundance refers to the tangible assets and wealth generated by the business for business owners. This includes financial profitability, asset acquisition, reinvestment in the company, and the economic impact on the wider community. Material abundance ensures the sustainability and growth of the enterprise.

In the context of a modern business, this dual promise can be interpreted as achieving financial success and expansion while cultivating a business that operates on strong ethical principles and contributes positively to the community. It encourages business owners to strive for a legacy that includes a prosperous enterprise and a positive impact on society and the environment. By aligning their business practices with these covenantal promises, entrepreneurs can aim for holistic success that fulfills material goals and spiritual values.

Implications for Business Owners:

  • Growth: Just as the covenant promised Abraham that his descendants would multiply and flourish, business owners can see this as an encouragement to pursue scalable growth and expansion strategies that lead to long-term sustainability.

  • Influence: Abraham's influence was to be vast, impacting many generations. Similarly, entrepreneurs are encouraged to consider how their businesses can significantly impact their industry, community, or global markets through innovation, leadership, and ethical practices.

  • Legacy: The promise of descendants underscores the importance of building a legacy. For business owners, this involves creating a company that succeeds financially, contributes positively to the community, and sets a foundation for future generations.

How to Prepare for this Type of Prayer:

  1. Understanding the Promise: Business owners should start by understanding the depth and breadth of Abraham's promise. It's about more than just numerical growth; it's about significant influence and blessings that extend beyond one's immediate circle.

  2. Aligning Goals with God’s Will: Ensure your business goals align with God’s principles and plans. This alignment makes your prayers for expansion more potent and grounded in your faith.

  3. Cultivating a Heart of Obedience: Abraham’s obedience was key to receiving God’s blessings. Similarly, business owners must cultivate a heart of obedience and submission to God’s will, ready to act or change course according to His guidance.

Impacts of Praying the Abrahamic Covenant:

  • Expansion Beyond Borders: Just as Abraham was promised to impact many nations, businesses can pray for influence and operations that extend beyond their current markets or geographical boundaries.

  • Increased Resources: The covenant promises growth in descendants and resources. For a business, this could translate into more capital, talent, and opportunities.

  • Legacy Building: The covenant with Abraham was inherently generational. Businesses can pray for a legacy that impacts future generations, establishing a lasting foundation that benefits others long after the original owners have passed on.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your faithfulness and the enduring promise You made to Abraham, which inspires us even today. As I lead and grow my business, I pray for the grace to embody the covenant You established - rooting my endeavors in the fertile ground of Your divine promise.

Lord, grant me the territory that You have destined for my business. Just as You provided land for Abraham, expand my borders and increase my influence in the marketplace. Help me identify new growth opportunities and provide the wisdom to navigate these expansions with integrity.

Bless my business, O God, with both spiritual and material abundance. May my work not only prosper in financial terms but also enrich the lives of those it touches. Let my business be a source of innovation, leadership, and positive impact, reflecting Your love and justice in every deal and decision.

I ask for a legacy of blessings - not just for myself but for my community and the generations to follow. May my business practices foster a culture of kindness, fairness, and respect for all, contributing to a better world.

Help me to trust in Your timing and Your plans, as Abraham did. Strengthen my faith when challenges arise and fortify my spirit to persevere with confidence, knowing that what You have promised, You will also fulfill.

Above all, Lord, let my life and my business be a testament to Your goodness and mercy. May my work serve as a beacon of Your light and truth in the world, drawing others closer to You.

In Jesus’ name, I pray,

Amen.
